Lesson 2

Compass Prep 2012 Spring
Lesson 2
SongSing to the tune of “This land is my land“

Lesson 2 Everyone is born with a purpose; Success is birthed in failures
3
tian sheng wǒ cái bì yǒu yòng, shi bài shì chéng gong zhi mǔ
天生 我材 必有 用,失败 是 成功 之母
God has a purpose for my being; Failure is the mother of success.
  1. Chinese is learned through obedience. There is no logic or sequence for new

students to venture on their own, the teacher bridges the gap until the students are

well on their way. Invention is not encouraged at this stage of learning. After

you've learned the strokes, meaning and usage of the words, then you can apply

them in daily situations and literature with much creativity.

  2. The purpose of teaching is to preserve the good, and correct the error, achieving

clarity and avoid confusion. “Good “ is ensured in the future in purpose, in the

present in usage and in the past in recording.

  3. Communication is done through the tedious strokes of each characters and the

composition of these characters for accurate understanding.

  4. The teacher imparts the spirit of established common ground through Chinese

tradition. Precept upon precept, and stroke upon stroke

    .
日,月,丹,目,且,自,旦,all need to be clearly distinguished in

    handwriting. Stroke matters.
